Coliving in Ecuador

Ecuador is a wonderfully diverse country in terms of geography, language, culture, cuisine, and flora and fauna.
Geographically, Ecuador boasts of four distinct regions: La Costa (the coast), La Sierra (the highland region which includes part of the Andes Mountain range), El Oriente (which includes the lowland portions of the Amazon rainforest), and the La Region Insular (which includes the Galapagos islands).
The Galapagos islands were critical in the formation of English biologist Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, as many of his observations and discoveries were made during his time in the islands.

Ecuador was officially established in 1532 by the Spaniards, who ruled the country for almost 300 years before the South American hero ‘El Libertador’ Simon Bolivar freed the country from Spanish rule and established the sovereign state of Gran Colombia in the earlier part of the 19th century.
Gran Colombia included other present-day South American countries Venezuela, Colombia, and Panama (as well as parts of northern Peru, northwest Brazil, and western Guyana) which were then simultaneously ruled by Bolivar from 1819-1830.
Spanish is the official language of Ecuador but 13 other local dialects are also widely used and recognized.
Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, claims to be the highest capital city in the world as it sits at 2,850 m above sea level.

The Galapagos Islands and the city of Quito were officially designated as numbers 1 and 2 among all UNESCO World Heritage Sites since the inaugural list was announced in 1978.
Judging from its name, Ecuador sits right smack on the equator and they have marketed this fact by erecting a landmark tourist destination located 26 km from the city of Quito called the Ciudad Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World City).
Here, you can lay claim to your 15 minutes of Instagram fame by supposedly standing with one foot in the Northern hemisphere and the other foot in the Southern hemisphere. Never mind the fact that recent scientific calculations have actually re-adjusted the actual position to a lesser Instagram-friendly place without the landmark, about 240 meters away from the present location.

Digital nomads who wish to experience Ecuador will find coliving spaces mostly located in the capital city of Quito, although some notable options can also be found in the suburb of Cumbaya and the port city of Guayaquil.
