It’s been more than two decades since the first Gladiator movie hit theaters, but fans can now stream the original film and Gladiator II online.
Released in November, Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington’s Gladiator II is now available to stream online through Paramount+ (which offers a free trial) or MGM+.
If you don’t want to sign up for another service, you can also purchase the film through Amazon Prime Video. You can buy a digital version of Gladiator II for $19.99 here, which gets you an Ultra HD version of the Ridley Scott film.
Want more Gladiator action? Paramount Pictures has dropped a limited-edition steelbook reprint of the film, on the heels of the new sequel’s release. Fans of the original Gladiator can pick up the film right now as part of a collectible three-disc steelbook Blu-ray set.
The set gets you the film in 4K Ultra HD quality with a ton of behind-the-scenes content and bonus featurettes. Your purchase also includes a digital copy of Gladiator that you can download to your computer. The digital download is yours to keep so you can stream Gladiator on-demand from home whenever you want.
This is the first Blu-ray re-release of Gladiator since Paramount Pictures dropped a 15th anniversary edition in 2015. The original Blu-ray release, meantime, is also still available and currently on sale (as of this writing) for just $9.59. The film has a runtime of two hours and 34 minutes.
The original Gladiator film starred Russell Crowe, Djimon Hounsou, Joaquin Phoenix and Connie Nielsen, who reprises her role in the sequel. Directed by Ridley Scott (who also returns for Gladiator II), the film was a critical and commercial success, winning five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and Best Actor for Crowe, and grossing more than $465 million worldwide.
The film followed Maximus (Crowe), a Roman army general who seeks to avenge the loss of his family against the devious emperor Commodus (Phoenix) while fighting to restore order in the Colosseum.
